Question - 1st batch (pic)
« on: May 29, 2020, 01:54:22 PM »
Hi folks.

Completed my first batch of 30PPM this morning.

600ml beaker
34V
2 silver rods
2mA current
Basic magnetic stirrer

I put steam distilled water into the beaker, half a teaspoon of maltodextrin and a tiny amount of baking soda before beginning to stir for 3 and a half - 4 hours. Results look ok I think but how would I go about adding gelatin? Can it be added at the start or better to put in at the end and onto a heated plate?

I did try to follow the guidance as best I could. I was originally looking at honey as a reducer before coming onto this forum to know what maltodextrin was. Slowly getting there

I use around 3ml maltodextrin for 600ml solution. I’ll heat the sodium bicarbonate, I’ve missed that crucial step out, and get the correct measurements for another 600ml.

I have watched various videos online, but mainly looked at the link on this page:

I believe I now have the electrolyte solution correct, but from what I take from the link, I add in the electrolyte and reducing agent at the start of the process and the capping agent at the end. i'll give it another go and see what this 2nd one looks like
