I think this lead to a misunderstanding.
I made the comparison with the copper pot just to express how quick copper tarnishes.
Babylonian language confusion again.

I have a copper cooking pot and soon after cleaning, it looks ugly again.
Copper flasks should not be used as it becomes a third electrode.  Thats why it 'looks ugly'. You should use only glass.

What I said works, but I agree, the bullion bar would be an improvement.
In fact I have such a thing, obtained during the last two years when it looked like the banks are folding any time.
I suspect it is not secure now in my home any longer. ;)

For the cathode, I used a feeble copper telephone wire, maybe 0.6 mm in diameters. It worked great, but it is very weak physically and goes whichever whay it decides. Also, it looks distusting after the first use.

I found myself a plain stainless steel guitar string with 0.022" diameter (akin to AWG23) that stays put where it is, and that works great overall.

Had to look up what a "popsicle" is. Unknown in my country.
Glad Wikipedia employs some fanatastic science fiction authors that invent a history for everything on the spot.

Now that I know what a popsicle is, I still have a hard time imagining your rig. A picture would definitely help.
We promise, we will not be witty.
I quickly whipped out some 3d printed contraption. Sometimes complicated is faster.
You are right in so far, that there is better subjects for improvement.
And things are improving.

No picture?  :-)

You'll laugh when I tell you what my electrode holder is.

A Popsicle stick!  You know, the ones kids glue together to make craft items. I  got a bag of 100 of them for $1 from the dollar store and just recently tossed the first holder and made a new one (it was starting to get ratty looking).

I just cut the round ends off so it friction fits the inside of the threaded ring that goes on a mason jar.  I drilled to appropriately sized holes in it spaced evenly from the ends and 1.5" apart.  I took some insulation (vinyl more than likely) off some copper wire and cut about a 3/8" sleeve I fitted into the two holes.  The silver wire and the copper wire (this is 24 gauge so I leave the insulation on for the part that goes through the sleeve so it friction fits) fit snugly but can be raised or lowered with a little work when needed (basically only the cathode ever has to be moved).

So, I put the electrode holder with electrodes into the threaded ring. I put that on the jar. I screw it down so that the pop-sickle stick is being pressed down gently against the top of the glass rim of the jar by the threaded collar.  Clip two wires on the two electrodes and you're good.

It doesn't get any simpler than this. I do have some plastic I could make a more involved electrode holder with but this worked so surprisingly well in a pinch when I first started making Colloidal Silver, I see no reason to go for the fancier electrode holder. It takes about 5 minutes to make a new popsicle stick holder so when it starts getting ratty looking, I make a new one and toss the old one.

I like simple (wink).

Great!
Best improvements would be:
  Bullion bar anode
  Heated stir plate
One bullion bar will make a lifetimes supply of Colloidal Silver!

Thanks.
I made a batch today, and all looked well.

I usually heat the DW (not quite to boiling point, but hot) and then continue without further heating, lacking any such facilities.

You say that with room temperature the 20ppm boundary gets hit. I found that after the calcultated time the solution is still very hot, at least hot enough to not want to hold the glass, so I might go on.

What happens if the process ist not stopped after that time? Ist there any indicator that tells me to stop?
