Fire Cleaning the Anode

Not sure if I am doing this correctly...

When I am done making colloidal silver the 14 gauge silver wire has a black coating on it... I use a propane torch and burn the black until it is a dull silver color (takes about 20 seconds)... I never melt the wire, and the wire never even gets cherry red... every once in a while the dull silver finish will flake some into the batch of colloidal silver, so I just filter it out at the end of making the batch...

Have I been "fire cleaning" the silver electrode incorrectly?
