I recently made extract on turmeric powder, using 50 gram of organic turmeric root powder and 100 ml 95% pure ethanol. Had it in a glass bottle for a few days and shaked it several times every day, finally filtered it through a coffe filter and got about 50 ml extract.
I then tested it to see how good it's as a reducing and stabilizing agent...
- 250 ml deionozed water in a 250 ml beaker on a magnetic stirrer with heating.
- Added enough of 1-mol sodium carbonate solution to raise the pH to between 8.5 and 9.
- Heated til near boiling (~90 degree C).
- Added 0.25 ml of the Turmeric Root Extract.
- Added, drop by drop, 10 ml of my previously made silver nitrate solution (each ml contains enough of silver nitrate to be reduced to 10 mg silver).
- Let it contiinue to stir with heating for about 15 minutes.
The result is a very dark brown and clear solution of 400 ppm (100 mg)
Took 1 ml of it + 19 ml deionized water to make 20 ml of 20 ppm colloidal silver. The picture can be seen below.
So Turmeric Root seem to be a very potent reducing and stabilizing agent.

I will also test it with elektrolysis
