Colloidal Silver Production / Re: How much (diluted) corn syrup reducer?
« Last post by Josie29 on January 14, 2021, 09:48:01 PM »
My question wasn't really a rhetorical question.

Other than 'because it fits the equation,' could someone explain why an 8 fold increase in Karo reducing agent is now recommended?
I put 320 ppm gel capped Colloidal Silver into the milk.  The milk doesn't spoil for several weeks after the 'best by' date.

Edit: Duh!  Apples and oranges. Gel capped 320 ppm Colloidal Silver works in milk because the gelatin coating dissolves. Don't know if it dissolves if/when put on dry skin.
What I am trying to determine is, to what amount (if any) the gelatine has a negative impact on the silver's ability to do good on the skin or if you add some to water.

For example if you were to have some gel capped Colloidal Silver and put it on a skin wound, would the silver still be able to function? Could you put gel capped Colloidal Silver in tap water to keep it fresher and kill organisms?

Amazing forum.

It took me a while but I finally had interest in making 320 gel capped. I had been avoiding it because not using gelatine is more familiar to me. I have made 1 batch out of a very recent malto 160ppm I did and then added the needed extra malto and gelatine as detailed on the forum and processed for another 160ppm. I have done a test dilution of 3.75ml with the remaining zero water filtered water to make 60ml and it is just a little tad darker than normal 20ppm and looks very much like Keph's 20ppm gel capped colour sample!

This dilution to 20ppm does not "quite" have the same crystal clarity of my actual 20ppm non-gel version but it is very close and I suppose an aspect of the gelatine inside it. But it looks great!

Thanks to everyone on the forum participating, making this the best place for Colloidal Silver information.

I prefer no corn syrup because of possible GMO.
There is no genetic material in corn syrup so it doesn't matter whether the corn was GMO or not.

Welcome aboard Klara.

1). Let me ask you; what kind of colloidal silver you looking for!?

2). Is there something incorrect with the kind we learned to make it here?

I find that dextrose reduces Colloidal Silver far too fast. I haven't made CG by this method yet, but I think this is what has happened. Follow the recipe. It has been found to work. Try not to reinvent the wheel.
Colloidal Silver Production / Re: Is heat alone enough for gel capped 320ppm?

Probably OK, but use enough heat to stir the water using convection currents.

Alternatively, use a water pump in addition to heat. Go to an aquarist and ask for a miniature aquarium pump (they are about 2 inches long x 1 inch wide x 1 1/2 inches high. This will stir the distilled water more than adequately.

Personally, I find heating the DW to simmering is fully adequate.
