Gold wire electrode gauge size?

I have a gold smith that is going to draw some gold wire, what gauge should I ask her to make that is the optimal size for electrolysis ?

Bigger is better, and wastes less gold.  In use, its going to get thinner until it breaks off.  So starting with a heavier gauge gives more useable gold.
